Context

This project addresses the need for more effective time management among leadership in a corporate setting. Using storytelling to show the consequences of ineffective time management on individual managers and their teams as a whole, the course takes an approach of allowing team leaders as learners to implement the information by training a team leader themselves. The training introduces learners to the Priority Matrix, a widely used soft skills tool for effective time management, and asks them to complete three interactive activities to apply what they understand about the matrix to the story’s central character, Marcus, a team lead at a mid-sized marketing agency.

Challenge

Time management is a widespread issue in corporate settings, and improper time management leads teams to perceive deeper issues with their management, such as a false sense of urgency, lack of care, or overall inability to lead properly. 

Solution

This training will show that often these perceived issues come down to a lack of ability to manage time effectively, and that by utilizing the Priority Matrix, leaders can maximize their time and show their true management abilities at their fullest potential.

Impact

This Introduction to the Priority Matrix course will cause team leaders to manage their own schedule well, accomplishing tasks with more efficiency and less stress, additionally boosting overall morale in their team by communicating reasonable expectations for each individual’s role, creating room for effective coaching, and increasing overall trust in their manager’s abilities.
